But what is this? you ask. The Untold Contest is over! But fret not, say I, for this is not intended to be an attempt to sneakily sneak in another entry two months late, but rather a celebration of Untold’s impending release! Less than two months!!!
As for the graphic itself, I have a lot of feelings about Kami being a reporter, Kami being a girl from a small town with big ambitions yet doesn’t resent and in fact embraced said small town, and especially Kami’s devotion to the truth. As teenage girls, we are constantly bombarded with conflicting messages about who we should be and about who our peers are, who we should want to be and who we should not want to be, and the only consistent theme in this messages is that we are silly and frivolous, and that our ambitions and desires and interests and hobbies are equally so. I’m not sure to what degree this was intentional on SRB’s part, but I’ve always seen this as a significant influence in Kami’s desire to uncover truths, and to a degree, read her unwillingness to accept the truths others present her with at face-value as a part of an opposition against the reality she is pressured to believe, which defines both her character and the development of the characters around her.
……… wow, this was supposed to be a cute little graphic and now I’m writing Lynburn Legacy meta. oops.
anyway, SRB has spoken a lot about seasons in relation to the cover art for her books among other things, and the seasons and nature as a whole is pretty important in the books, hence the pretty fall leaves!
This is the first graphic in a series, too! There will be some other graphics pertaining to the other central characters, to some of my OTPs, to some friendships, to the ensemble, to the Lynburns, and god knows what else (or in what order). Maybe one day I’ll organize them chronologically? This is Kami’s character introduction post, based on her character at the beginning of Unspoken, though that by no means means that it doesn’t apply to her character throughout the rest of the book (and maybe the whole series? who knows? SRB?) Oh, and one other quick note: there is a 100% chance that I will switch up fancasts for certain characters from graphic to graphic. It’s pretty inevitable.
I’ve rambled long enough, so enjoy this graphic, and look out for Angela’s introduction post!
